DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — A firefighter crashed a Dandridge Fire Department command truck into a building downtown after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel, WVLT reports.
The firefighter was picking up the boat for routine maintenance on July 31 when he lost consciousness behind the wheel, Fire Chief Andrew Riley said. The truck hit two parked cars during the crash, which Riley said helped save the building from seeing major damage.
The firefighter was taken to the hospital after he regained consciousness.
“He’s under the care of medical doctors who are still working to see what caused the episode,” Riley said.
The truck was totaled and the boat received major damage, Riley said.
