US Greenlights $1B Military Sale to Boost Kuwait’s Defense – SOFREP News Team

The US State Department approved a potential $1 billion Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Kuwait, according to a press statement released last Thursday, February 6. This approval is focused on providing comprehensive design and construction services for critical maritime and land facilities in the country, including key naval bases and logistics stations.

The FMS is set to not only boost Kuwait’s military infrastructure but also improve its ability to respond to current and future security threats in an increasingly volatile Middle East.

Here’s what we know so far about the deal.

Details of the Proposed Sale

Kuwait has requested a robust package of design and construction services, which will be provided at key strategic locations, such as the Mohammed Al Ahmed Naval Base, Ras Al Ard Naval Base for Onshore Logistics, and an additional alternate logistics station.

These projects will also include the construction of a new headquarters complex.

The services requested under this agreement span a wide array of activities, including life cycle design, construction, project management, engineering studies, and logistical support.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the sale includes vital technical services such as surveys, planning, programming, contract administration, and construction management.

The goal of these services is to ensure the country’s military facilities are equipped to meet the evolving challenges of modern warfare, bolstering Kuwait’s capability to protect its sovereignty and secure its strategic interests.
