The ever-evolving world of shooting optics just got more exciting with Osight’s latest red dot releases. That’s right, “releases”… plural. The folks at Osight are releasing not one but two new red dot optic sights, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to have put both of them through their paces.
A Reputation for Innovative Design
Osight used to be part of Olight, but they are now a sister company of Olight. is key, and they believe in form following function.
Olight has been an industry innovator for years. From a clip-on flashlight the size of your thumb that is bright enough to walk the dog before sunrise to the ingenious imini rechargeable keychain flashlight that has a detachable light half the size of your pinkie finger, Olight makes products you can’t find anywhere else. And they work well…very well.
Osight red dot products, with the industry’s first magnetic charging cover, lead the way in innovation.
Meet Osight S and Osight X
This article explores the features, benefits, and ideal use cases of Osight’s two newest red dot optics. Both were released to the public on January 21 during an informative and entertaining event held at SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
For the Osight S, the “S” stands for “super compact”. It’s perfect for pistols you may use for concealed carry.
Here, we see the Osight S mounted on a SIG SAUER P365. It fits perfectly, and installation was a breeze. The proportions of the sight are in keeping with that of the weapon.
Let me step back for a second and talk about the packaging of both of these products. When you first open the box, you can tell that Osight has put just as much thought into the presentation of its products as into the products themselves.
It is one of those rock-solid cardboard boxes rivaling something you’d get from Apple. It folds open, as you see above, and all of the parts are well-defined and securely packed in foam. I normally don’t fawn this much over packaging, but what this tells me is that Osight cares about every aspect of its product. It is also quite helpful for organizationally challenged folks like myself to find everything needed to get the sight mounted.
A Bit About The Osight S
The Osight S isn’t just another compact optic—it’s a new benchmark for those who demand accuracy, durability, and versatility, whether for concealed carry or tactical use. Built with OAL™ housing (Olight’s proprietary aluminum alloy material that is twice as hard as the standard 6061 aluminum alloy you might find in a firearm optic), this bad boy is as tough as nails while staying light enough to mount without throwing off the balance of your pistol. It’s built to endure whatever the environment throws at it, thanks to its fully enclosed system, while its crystal-clear aspherical lens eliminates distortion and remains parallax-free. With a universal RMSc footprint, this optic mounts effortlessly on most optics-ready slides, making it a breeze to integrate into your setup.
What really sets all Osights apart are their groundbreaking Magnetic Charging Cover. This clever feature charges your optic with ease and includes a real-time battery display that keeps you informed about the charge levels of both the optic and the cover. The cover itself charges via USB-C, while the optic magnetically snaps into place for a recharge. One full charge of the cover can juice up the optic three times, and the optic alone can last a jaw-dropping 21,900 hours on its lowest daylight setting with the dot-only reticle.
Speaking of reticles, this optic’s got options. The Osight S lets you toggle between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or a combo of both, ensuring you’re ready for any shooting scenario. With 12 brightness levels—10 for daylight and 2 for night vision—you’ve got the flexibility to adapt to your environment. And thanks to its motion sensor, the reticle powers on with the slightest movement, then shuts down after 10 minutes of inactivity to save battery life. If you prefer, you can let the auto-sensing mode handle brightness adjustments for you or tweak it manually to your liking.
The design also doesn’t skimp on the details. From the low-profile construction with a sleek, laser-precise finish to practical features like windage and elevation adjustments and a light sensor, this optic is as functional as it is good-looking. The sharpness of the dot-and-circle reticle means you’ll be locking on to targets faster than ever, and its ultra-low deck height ensures co-witnessing with your iron sights is a given.
With the Osight S, you’re buying an optic that’s a rock-solid tool blending cutting-edge technology with real-world practicality. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or just getting into the game, this optic delivers precision, reliability, and ease of use in one compact, badass package.

About the Osight X
The Osight X is a top-tier optic built for everything from intense competition shooting to serious tactical applications. This optic performs optimally, making life easier for shooters at all skill levels. The first thing you’ll notice is its durable yet lightweight OAL™ housing, designed to handle the kind of abuse you throw at it during training or in the field. It features the same magnetic charging cover as the “S” model and displays real-time battery levels for both the optic and the cover, taking the guesswork out of knowing when it’s time to recharge.
With a wide field of view and advanced multi-coated lenses, the Osight X delivers exceptional clarity and brightness. Whether you’re in daylight or low-light conditions, this optic lets you zero in on targets with precision and confidence. Its multi-reticle system gives you the flexibility to switch between a 3 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or a combination of both. This adaptability is perfect for shooters who want their sights to match the demands of any situation. It’s also built for convenience, with compatibility for slides using the Ruggedized Miniature Reflex (RMR) footprint and the option to fit other setups with an adapter.
The Osight X isn’t just a good-looking addition to your pistol; it’s loaded with functionality. Its motion sensor brings the optic to life as soon as it detects movement and powers down after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery. It also includes 12 brightness levels, 10 for daylight and 2 for night vision, so you can dial it in no matter the conditions. The auto-brightness feature is a nice touch for convenience, but you can still tweak the settings manually if you want that extra bit of control.
Battery life is where this optic really shines. On the lowest daylight setting with just the dot, you’re looking at over 57,000 hours of operation. On top of that, the Magnetic Charging Cover, which uses a USB-C port, can recharge the optic up to three times on a single charge. When it’s time to juice up the optic itself, the magnetic charging system makes it quick and painless. No fumbling, no fuss—just snap it into place, and you’re good to go.
Details matter, and that is where this Osight shines. The logo is laser-etched with incredible precision using diamond blades, giving it a sleek, low-profile appearance. Whether you’re new to optics or a seasoned pro, the Osight X delivers the performance, reliability, and features you need to elevate your shooting game.
