Pic of the Day, Prepping Is a Year ‘Round Activity

Normally we have one good cold spell here in NW Florida each winter, 5 maybe 6 days where the nights are below freezing and the days are maybe 40deg.  They already enjoyed a beautiful white winter in January this year (complete with 9 inches of snow) while I was attending SHOT Show in Las Vegas.  That would normally be it for the year.

My neighbor heats with wood and thought he was good for the rest of the winter, after all, that was our “one cold spell” so even though he didn’t have much wood left for his stove he was good.

Enter the third week of February and we have, nights forecasted to be in the upper 20’s and days in the 40’s.  Yes, a second cold spell, almost unheard of lately in this world of “Global Warming”.  My neighbor was a little concerned but since we both plan ahead, there is wood available I just have to get it pulled from the pile and over to him.

Being prepared isn’t just for hurricanes here in NW Florida, it’s what we do year ’round so we can spend our time doing what we enjoy and not worrying about how we are going to survive.  And frankly any excuse I have to get on the tractor I’m going to take!

Garfield out.
