BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder Fire-Rescue Department marked a milestone on Jan. 24 with the grand opening of a state-of-the-art fire station designed to enhance safety and sustainability.
The new facility features advanced filtration systems to keep contaminants away from living and working spaces, prioritizing firefighter health, KDVR reported.
As part of its commitment to green technology, the department introduced one of its two Rosenbauer RTX-1 electric fire engines. The engine even powered all the equipment for the opening ceremony, showcasing its capabilities.
The station replaces an older facility that was located in a floodplain. A memorial honoring fallen Boulder firefighters was relocated from the previous site to the new station, preserving their legacy.
